The Aims and Objectives of the Study Circle

1) To study, discuss, debate, deliberate and reflect upon the thoughts, writings and lives of Rahul Sankrityayan and Damodar Dharmanand Kosambi and those of the scholars and activists who have engaged with their contributions in various ways.

2) To propagate the significance of the lives and works of Sankrityayan and Kosambi and the Study Circle’s opinions on the issues with which they were concerned and which remain significant in the public domain even now.

3) To study and imbibe the philosophies which had influenced both Sankrityayan and Kosambi, ideologically and politically, and to strive to work for the betterment of the society in any way possible thereby striking a concord between theory and praxis.

4) To build upon the works of Sankrityayan and Kosambi through the employment of their methodologies and techniques, by developing constructive critiques of their views and going beyond the scope of their works yet staying committed to the fundamental tenets of the Study Circle which are interdisciplinary in form and largely Indian in content.

5) To express solidarity with the struggles and movements of the less privileged, disadvantaged, oppressed and marginalized (politically, economically, socially or otherwise) all over the world in general and India in particular and to contribute to the causes against any form of inequality, violence and injustice anywhere in the world in any way possible for the Study Circle.
